                                      Lifesaving Club Members

Llandudno Surf has an enthusiastic and committed body of lifeguards. The club has in excess of 100 members, with a healthy mix of male and female members mostly from the Llandudno and neighbouring communities. Although the ages of our members vary from 8 to 60, the majority of our active members are between the ages of 15 and 30. All of our members embrace a healthy active lifestyle, share a common passion for sport and have a strong sense of social responsibility. Many of our members are students and young professionals and are also affiliated with other voluntary organisations such as NSRI and paramedic services, as well as actively participating in other sporting disciplines. On average, active members dedicate over 100 hours per season to perform voluntary beach duties, training and competitions.

                                      Club Growth and Sustainability

Llandudno ensures its sustainability through a highly successful junior lifesaving program known as Nippers where youngsters between 8 and 14 years of age are trained in the skills and responsibilities of lifesaving. They also compete in competitions with nippers from other clubs. The nippers and their parents play an integral role in ensuring the future of the lifesaving club.

The club recruits new members through presentations at local high schools, regular local newspaper articles and through an active social calendar whereby members are encouraged to invite friends, family and colleagues to join the club.

The club has also initiated a development programme, which provides children from underprivileged communities with swimming lessons and lifesaving skills. Selected candidates are introduced into nippers, with a view to training them to become qualified lifeguards.
